It took the V1010 10 minutes and 12 seconds to complete our Windows Media Encoder test and 7 minutes and 18 seconds to finish our iTunes conversion test—not bad, but not great. The real disaster was the Futuremark 3DMark06 test, which could be run only at the notebook’s native resolution. The score: a dismal 229.

Although this is a satisfactory selection for average business users, we would have appreciated the inclusion of an S-Video jack, a DVI output, or even a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) jack for connecting an external display, especially since you can configure the R61 with a high-definition Blu-ray optical drive (a $600 add-on).
